Charges Filed Against 42-Year-Old Citizen for Fatal Car Accident Resulting in Mother and Son's Death
The investigation into a car accident that resulted in the deaths of two people has been completed by the Regional Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia in the Armavir region. Charges have been filed against a 42-year-old resident of the Armavir area.
According to the data obtained during the investigation, the 42-year-old resident of Armavir region, while under the influence of alcohol, was driving his BMW 525i vehicle on May 10, 2020, around 01:00, on the 3rd km of the Yeraskhahun-Vardanashen road. He committed actions contrary to traffic rules by exceeding the allowable speed limit appropriate to visibility, veered into the oncoming traffic lane, and collided with a VAZ 21074 vehicle operated by a 27-year-old resident of Yeraskhahun village.
As a result of his actions, he caused the accident and deprived himself of the technical opportunity to prevent the accident, leading to the death of the 27-year-old driver and his 65-year-old passenger, his mother, due to negligence.
With sufficient evidence collected, the 42-year-old resident of the Armavir region has been charged under Part 3 of Article 242 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (Violation of the requirements for ensuring road traffic safety or the rules of road traffic or operation of vehicles, resulting in the death of two or more persons through negligence). He has been remanded in custody as a measure of restraint.
The investigation has concluded, and the criminal case has been sent to court with an accusatory conclusion.
