Barcelona Confirms Lionel Messi's Departure from the Team

The Spanish football club Barcelona has confirmed the news that team forward Lionel Messi wishes to leave the club.

According to Football Espana, the Argentine player has requested the club's management to remove him from the transfer list. The source states that Lionel Messi intends to utilize a clause in his contract that allows him to unilaterally terminate it after the end of the season.

The Spanish club is attempting to persuade the veteran player to stay for another year, especially since his contract is set to expire in 2021.

As reported by the same source, several clubs are interested in the Argentine forward, including English teams Manchester United and Manchester City, French club PSG, and Italian club Inter.

Last season, the 33-year-old player appeared in 44 matches for Barcelona, during which he scored 31 goals and provided 26 assists.

It's worth noting that Lionel Messi is a product of Barcelona's youth academy and has only played for the Catalan club throughout his career.
