Lukashenko Awards a Group of Law Enforcement Officers for 'Impeccable Service'

The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has signed a decree awarding a group of law enforcement representatives with the medal for 'Impeccable Service.' The decree has been published on a legal portal.

More than 300 individuals have been awarded under Lukashenko's decree signed on August 13. Among those awarded the medal of the 1st degree for 'Impeccable Service' is Deputy Commander of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Khazalbek Atabekov.

It is noteworthy that following the presidential elections held on August 9 in Belarus, protests and strikes have continued across the country. In the initial days, law enforcement agencies applied force and special measures against activists. Approximately 6,700 people have been arrested. According to the Belarusian Prosecutor General's Office, fewer than 130 individuals remain in detention, while the rest have been released.

About 700 individuals have complained about the abuse of power by law enforcement. The official confirmation of two fatalities has been reported, while human rights defenders are documenting five deaths.
