Quarantine in Georgia for Citizens of Other Countries is Paid
Quarantine remains mandatory for both citizens of other countries and Georgian citizens entering Georgia. However, the duration of the quarantine has been reduced from 14 days to 12 days.
Many residents of Akhalkalaki have relatives or family members in other countries and hold citizenship of those countries. Currently, many of them are returning or wish to return to their families. These individuals are interested in whether quarantine is paid.
Jnews inquired by contacting various ministries and agencies. Thus, the response received from the hotlines established by the government indicated that quarantine is indeed paid for citizens of other countries.
“Quarantine is mandatory for everyone; however, the state only pays for Georgian citizens, while citizens of other countries must cover the costs themselves. Regarding the fact that family members of the person entering the country are Georgian citizens, in that case, the individual will be allowed entry as their spouse and minor children are here. However, this is completely unrelated to mandatory quarantine,” stated the government hotline.
To clarify this information, we also contacted the Unified Service Center of the Patrol Police, which provided the same answer that quarantine is paid for citizens of other countries.
We also reached out to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, and received the same response.
We remind you that citizens/residents of EU countries must fill out a mandatory registration form prior to arriving in Georgia. From the countries that have unconditionally opened their borders with Georgia, based on the decision of the Interagency Coordination Council, Georgia is also unconditionally opening its borders for these countries: Germany, France, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. Citizens/residents of these 5 countries will only be able to arrive for all types of visits via direct flights. Before crossing the Georgian border, they must fill out a specially designed electronic form.
With their agreement, or if their temperature exceeds 37 degrees Celsius at the border, a PCR test will be conducted at the airport. As for the other EU member states that have not opened their borders to Georgia, the existing regime remains in place.
