We Will Initiate a Criminal Case: V. Gasparyan on the Incident with the 'Liberty' Radio Journalist

The head of 'Liberty' Radio does not educate his employees on where their rights begin and their responsibilities start, stated former Chief of Police of Armenia, General-Lieutenant Vladimir Gasparyan during the 'Pressing' program on 168.am, referring to the incident involving a journalist from 'Liberty' Radio.

It is worth noting that 'Liberty Radio' recorded a video of Vladimir Gasparyan's villa near Lake Sevan without warning, which led to a dispute between the journalist and the police chief.

'If you wanted to shoot, you should have come to the door, knocked, said you were filming, and I would have made a scene. At that moment, I would have violated the journalist’s obligation. But you sneaked into my home, controlling a drone 400 meters from my house above my property. I have told my lawyer that we will initiate a criminal case, and we will request action regarding this fact,' he stated.

'Yes, I told them that no one philosophically approaches someone entering another person’s home; it can end quite poorly, be careful of that, you are entering families,' he added.

In response to the journalist's observation that several criminal cases have been instigated against him and another one has been initiated, Vladimir Gasparyan said, 'I congratulate those who have initiated criminal cases.'

To the question of whether he thinks he might end up in prison, the police chief replied, 'I don’t think so; the law should not be applied politically against individuals but should be enforced according to the law. Many things do not happen in the legal realm, and I assure you that all such phenomena will be answered for; nothing remains in the ground, everything rises.'
