The Trend of Declining Meat Production Volumes in Armenia Continues
According to the newspaper Žoxovurd, the trend of declining meat production volumes in Armenia continues. ArmLur.am was informed by the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia that in the January-June period of this year, compared to the same period last year, the volumes of beef production decreased by 3.9 percent. The same situation is observed in the case of pork and lamb; in the January-June period of this year, pork production volumes decreased by 6 percent, while lamb production dropped by 2.9 percent.
On the other hand, poultry production volumes increased by 10.8 percent. In addition, there was a recorded decline of 4.7 percent in the production of sausages. Conversely, the livestock population in Armenia has increased. In 2017, the number of cattle was 655,800; in 2018 it became 590,600; in 2019, it fell to 571,861, while in 2020 it rose to 579,256.
As a result, experts say that the volumes of beef, pork, and lamb production will increase in the near future,” writes the newspaper.
