Mayor Marutyan Dismisses Chief Architect

Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan has made the decision to dismiss the city's Chief Architect, Arthur Meshchyan. According to a document published on the official website of the municipality, the decision was based on Meshchyan's application.

"Effective August 17, 2020, Arthur Meshchyan is relieved of his duties as the Chief Architect of Yerevan," the decision states. Marutyan signed the document on August 12. This is somewhat unusual, as during this time the mayor was on vacation.

As announced by Yerevan Mayor's spokesperson Hakob Karapetyan on August 11, Marutyan had taken a vacation until August 25, inclusive. Marutyan had previously mentioned Meshchyan's resignation application during a press conference held on August 4, recalling that Meshchyan had initially indicated that he would serve for a period of two years.
