Criminal Case Regarding Thefts Sent to Court

The preliminary investigation of a multifaceted criminal case regarding theft incidents has been concluded at the Investigation Department of the Armavir Regional Investigation Committee.

According to the Investigative Committee, extensive investigative and other procedural actions carried out during the pre-trial proceedings have revealed 13 cases of theft and 7 attempts of theft. Several circumstances have been established, including the identities of the perpetrators, their roles, and individualized actions were assessed legally.

The investigation found that the defendants acted both individually and in groups, and a decision was made to consolidate all 17 criminal cases against them into a single proceeding for joint examination.

During the investigation, the circle of victims was identified, comprising 10 individuals and 6 legal entities.

For instance, according to the data obtained in the investigation, a resident of the village of Norapat, born in 1987, along with a minor resident of Armavir, born in 2001, committed theft from a company in Armavir City in December 2018 and January 2019, both in groups and alone.

A criminal case has been initiated regarding these events, during which four separate criminal cases related to illegal entry to storage rooms and buildings and committing thefts and attempted thefts were merged into the same proceeding with two accomplices born in 2002 from Armavir City and 1998 from the village of Lenugh.

Later, the part concerning the minor resident of Armavir born in 2001 was separated from the case and, in September 2019, was sent to court with an indictment.

As a result of extensive investigative actions and operational search measures, theft incidents committed by other individuals were also revealed.

Specifically, it was found that another resident of the village of Lenugh, born in 2001, had conspired with his fellow villagers born in 2001 and 1998 to secretly steal significant amounts of other people's property and, having outlined roles in advance, committed over ten thefts and attempts, sharing the proceeds among themselves, thus causing substantial property damage to several companies and individuals.

During the preliminary investigation of the criminal case, information was obtained regarding several thefts involving a resident of the village of Sardarapat, born in 1993, a now-deceased resident of the village of Lenugh, born in 1998, and a resident of the city of Sevan, born in 1971, regarding which criminal cases were initiated and consolidated.

The investigation of the ongoing criminal cases regarding thefts has also revealed incidents of false denunciation and instigation of false denunciation.

One of the defendants, a resident of the village of Sardarapat, in an attempt to not disclose previous crimes and not reveal the truth, had a telephone conversation with a resident of the village of Lenugh born in 1998, who was previously detained in the Armavir penitentiary. One of them attempted to induce the other to provide false testimony during a subsequent confrontation, coercing him with threats and material benefits.

Consequently, during the confrontation, the detainee reported that the police officers had forced him to provide false testimony through physical violence, thereby implicating them in a serious crime accompanied by false denunciation.

During the criminal proceedings, on November 16, 2019, a resident of the village of Lenugh, born in 1998, committed suicide by hanging in his cell. A decision was made to terminate the criminal prosecution against him based on his death as per Article 35, Part 1, Item 10 of the RA Criminal Procedure Code.

Based on sufficient evidence, charges were filed against the resident of Norapat, born in 1987, under points 2 and 3 of Part 2 of Article 177, points 1, 2, and 3 of Part 2 of Article 177 (3 episodes), and Point 1 of Part 1 of Article 177.

Charges were filed against one of the minors born in 2001 from the village of Lenugh under points 1 and 3 of Part 2 of Article 177 (2 episodes), point 3 of Part 2 of Article 34-177 (4 episodes), points 1 and 3 of Part 2 of Article 177 (2 episodes), and points 3 of Part 2 of Article 177 (2 episodes), overall under points 1 and 3 of Part 2 of Article 34-177 (2 episodes).

Another minor from the village of Lenugh, born in 2001, has been charged under points 1 and 3 of Part 2 of Article 38-177 (4 episodes), points 1 and 3 of Part 2 of Article 34-177, points 1 and 3 of Part 1 of Article 38-34-177, and point 3 of Part 2 of Article 38-34-177.

Another accused born in 2002 from Armavir has been charged under points 1, 2, and 3 of Part 2 of Article 177, and Part 1 of Article 185, point 1 of Part 2 of Article 34-177, and point 3 of Part 2 of Article 177, for which the measure of restraint has been chosen as parental supervision; however, he is currently involved as a defendant in another criminal case being conducted by the Investigative Committee in the Center and Norq-Marash administrative districts of Yerevan and is a detainee in the
