A series of violations have been allowed. Former MP Vanik Asatryan's lawyer to appeal to the Court of Cassation

Vanik Asatryan, a former MP from the ‘Tsarukyan’ faction, has been detained for about a month in connection with the well-known electoral bribery case and has testified, stating that he has no connection to the case. This was reported in a conversation with NEWS.am by Asatryan's lawyer, Emin Beglaryan.

The lawyer noted that Asatryan does not accept the charges against him.

It should be mentioned that the defense appealed the decision of the first instance court, which was rejected.

“We have received the paper version of the decision. We are now working on the cassation appeal. We had addressed the Court of Appeals by raising several questions regarding the illegality of the proceedings, particularly concerning the issue of investigative jurisdiction and several violations committed during the pre-trial investigation related specifically to Vanik Asatryan. We do not agree with the positions taken by the Court of Appeals, which is why we will file an appeal,” he stated.

According to Beglaryan, there is a clear legislative requirement that Asatryan's case should have been examined by the Special Investigative Service (SIS).

He also noted that Vanik Asatryan has not had any confrontation with other individuals in the criminal case.

It should be recalled that Vanik Asatryan is accused under Article 154.2, Part 2 of the RA Criminal Code (providing a bribe to a voter personally or through an intermediary).
