You Cannot Speak So Casually About Over 1000 Deaths Without Serious Consequences, Vanetsyan
The Prime Minister has not well understood global trends. Quarantine (restrictions) and the economy are at odds, social issues are prominent, but never should the lives of people be in question, said Arthur Vanetsyan, the president of the "Homeland" party and former head of the NSS, in an interview with Aravot.am, commenting on Pashinyan's statement that strictly following health logic would lead us to a social collapse.
"In Armenia, there are over 1000 deaths, definitely not due to the easing of quarantine. If the Prime Minister is saying such things genuinely believing he is right, then the situation in Armenia is not going to improve," Vanetsyan asserted.
He emphasized that it is clear that there are egregious mistakes made somewhere, in some circles, that lead to this tragic situation. "I am sorry, but the government, having left this serious, most crucial matter aside, has simply begun to speak very easily about the deaths," he stated.
Vanetsyan pointed out that the government needs to find its mistakes to understand where the main problem lies. "This is not merely a health issue; this is a state security issue. And ultimately, you cannot speak so easily about over 1000 deaths without serious consequences. No country, no society can overlook this. If not today, then tomorrow this will become a significant subject of examination. The parliamentary and extra-parliamentary opposition should make this one of their main agenda items, and the same should be done by representatives of civil society. Moreover, it is the government's direct obligation to understand the causes of these deaths and to disrupt this 'death mechanism'," he added.
