Manvel Grigoryan is not receiving treatment for health recovery, lawyer alerts

Former MP Manvel Grigoryan's lawyer has made a statement: “Manvel Grigoryan is not receiving treatment related to his health recovery, as the healthcare system in Armenia, under the conditions of worsening and increasing illness, is only capable of preserving diseases but no longer able to treat the patient. The evidence for this is the patient’s latest medical epicrisis. Although individual diseases that Grigoryan has reached the age of forty could be effectively treated in Armenia, it is impossible to have comprehensive treatment for all the ailments that have arisen due to the lack of effective treatment in one person's body within Armenian medical institutions. Consequently, according to medical epicrisis and doctors, diseases are increasing and worsening. I assert that the Minister of Health, being the head of a specialized state healthcare authority, is well aware of this and demonstrates indifference, while the judge overseeing Grigoryan’s case, knowing these facts, shows inaction. As a result, the patient is in a helpless position, as the state machinery is obstructing the patient’s treatment at the clinic that previously treated and operated on him, and knowing the patient’s medical documents and treatment methods from Armenia, demanded immediate transfer to their clinic.

What is the interest of the state or justice in leaving a patient helpless, preventing health recovery, torturing and killing, even if one or some derive pleasure from such brutal treatment? After all, the law of the boomerang operates and will mathematically hit those individuals and their descendants. In a so-called social state to prohibit a seriously ill patient from receiving treatment in their preferred clinic by virtue of their loved ones, while simultaneously acknowledging that diseases are worsening and increasing, is a cruel attitude on a state level; it is torture. Moreover, by delaying court hearings due to severe illnesses, thereby not allowing the patient to receive effective treatment, sentencing the patient to a slow death without trial, is a function of the judiciary that is a bad precedent that anyone could feel on their skin tomorrow.

I have only encountered such brutal treatment of a person in literary works, in films related to the genocide of Armenians by Turks, and the Holocaust of Jews by Nazis. Today, a hero of Artsakh, under whose command the liberated territories play a major role in the negotiation process, is under twenty-four-hour painkillers and mechanical ventilation.

I assert that indifference is a criminal inaction, everyone to the extent of their authority.”
