‘Hayk Mhrkyan, the Deputy Police Chief Dismissed Likely to Receive a New Position at Yerevan City Hall
According to the ‘Hayots Ashkharh’ newspaper, it is likely that Hayk Mhrkyan, the deputy police chief dismissed on August 6, will receive a new position soon. Reports suggest that he may be appointed as the secretary of the staff of the Yerevan City Hall.
It is worth noting that although Arman Sargsyan no longer holds the position of the chief of police of the Republic of Armenia, he continues to recommend various individuals for appointments to Mayor Hayk Marutyan. It should be mentioned that Arman Sargsyan and Hayk Marutyan are childhood friends, which explains the large number of former police personnel within the municipal authorities. Hayk Mhrkyan was also the head of the Nor Nork administrative district before his appointment as deputy police chief.
Now that Mhrkyan is again without a position, the former police chief has recommended him for a new role. ‘Hayots Ashkharh’ reached out to Hayk Mhrkyan for a comment; however, he stated that he has not received any such offer at this time, while not denying that Arman Sargsyan is his relative. ‘I have not received such an offer, and I will inform when I do,’ he said,” the article notes.
