BHK Opposes Extension of State of Emergency: Naira Zohrabyan

Member of the National Assembly from the Prosperous Armenia faction, Naira Zohrabyan, stated in her speech that there is no basis for extending the state of emergency. She mentioned that they will vote against the draft law on extending the state of emergency.

According to Zohrabyan, the mitigation of restrictions presented by the head of the crisis management center, Tigran Avinyan, could have been achieved by making just a few amendments to the law on protecting the population in emergencies without extending the state of emergency. “We believe that there is no justification for extending the state of emergency. Naturally, Prosperous Armenia will support the decision draft that our colleagues from the Bright Armenia faction will present soon, advocating not to extend the state of emergency. In other words, we would make amendments to the law, and there would be no need to extend the state of emergency,” she said.

“When you are asked whether it is possible to open the borders with EU countries, you said that the problem is not with us; it is their issue. Yes, because when the state of emergency in Armenia is extended for the fifth time, it is, indeed, their legitimate right not to open the air borders with Armenia. The closure of the air borders leads to several issues. Those wishing to go to work abroad are demanding the opening of air borders with Russia. We are unable to resolve the issue for those wanting to leave for work,” Zohrabyan noted.
