Belarusian Security Units Leave Minsk, Traffic Restored

Belarusian security units have left the capital city of Minsk. Roadblocks have been removed from the streets, and traffic on major highways has been restored. This was reported by TASS.

Protests resumed in Minsk last evening, and clashes occurred between the special forces of OMON and demonstrators.

In the Serebryanka microdistrict of Minsk, the epicenter of one of the unauthorized actions taking place last night, protesters are attempting to build barricades. This was reported by the Belarusian bureau of Radio Liberty.

Additionally, explosions and gunfire have been heard in Serebryanka after midnight. According to Interfax, various Telegram channels report that a large number of OMON forces and ambulances are moving toward the microdistrict. Social media platforms indicate a significant number of injuries.

Recall that residents of Belarus took to the streets following the presidential elections held on August 9, expressing their dissatisfaction with the results, which indicated that incumbent president Alexander Lukashenko received over 80 percent of the votes.
