On August 4 in Beirut, a powerful explosion occurred, resulting in the deaths of over 150 people, 60 individuals reported missing, and more than 5000 injured.
Armenia expressed its readiness to provide assistance to the friendly people of Lebanon and our compatriots living there. On Saturday, August 8, the first plane carrying humanitarian aid from Armenia departed for Beirut. The delegation heading to Beirut includes Zareh Sinanyan, the Chief Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, Sara Anjargolyan, head of the Diaspora Affairs office, Varag Siseryan, the head of the office of the Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan, Haikak Arshamyan, director of the Armenia Fund, and Hrachya Hakobyan, head of the Armenia-Lebanon Friendship Group.
As of yesterday, the number of victims among Armenians has been reported as 13 or 14, with many others injured, their condition stable. Hrachya Hakobyan, a member of the 'My Step' faction, shared this information in a conversation with ArmDaily.am.
When asked whether there are Lebanese-Armenians wishing to come to Armenia, the head of the Armenia-Lebanon Friendship Group stated: “The airplane that took us also brought back 37 Lebanese-Armenians to Armenia. The embassy has registered these individuals, prioritizing those who have lost their homes and are now homeless. A second plane brought back 19 people, and today's flight will also include individuals returning to Armenia with us. We will be returning this evening on today’s flight.”
