Nikol Pashinyan Attends Goddaughter's Wedding
According to Hraparak.am, a wedding for the daughter of Ijevan Mayor Hayk Ghalumyan was held on Saturday, August 8, in secrecy. All attendees were prohibited from posting any mention or photos of the wedding. However, according to our source who attended the event, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also participated, with his bodyguards carefully monitoring guests to ensure that no evidence of the event, held under the state of emergency, surfaced online.
The newlyweds have also not published any photos, but yesterday the bride, Haykush Ghalumyan, shared pictures from a resort in Armenia, accompanied by congratulations and wishes for happiness, indicating that it was related to her marriage.
The media reached out to MP Vahe Ghalumyan from the “My Step” faction in Parliament to comment on the fact of his brother's daughter's wedding amidst the state of emergency. He confirmed that the wedding occurred on Saturday but denied that the Prime Minister attended the event. “No, only close relatives participated, a few people, not more,” said Ghalumyan.
He then added, “The Prime Minister was not present; on that day, he was in Sisian. There are quite a few materials and videos on the Prime Minister's page showing that he was in Sisian.” However, the Prime Minister visited a military unit in Sisian on August 10, according to the official statement, while the wedding in Ijevan took place on Saturday, August 8. This raises the question of why the fact of the wedding was kept secret if “only a few people attended” and there was no violation of the state of emergency.
MP Ghalumyan clarified, “There was no music, none of my friends were there; it was just our family and the groom's family. We celebrated at our restaurant.” When asked if there were over 20 attendees, he replied, “No... possibly there were a few people, around 34, I don't remember in detail, but I know there were three or four small tables.”
