It Is Not Ruled Out That a Vote of No Confidence in Two Ministers Will Be Raised in September
There is no doubt that we will have a tumultuous autumn. In September, the coronavirus inquiry committee will convene in the National Assembly, and secondly, in September, 'Bright Armenia' will raise questions regarding the state's policies and reforms in the education sector over the past two years. The situation is worsening day by day, as seen with the number of rejected applicants and the new literature program, among other issues that concern a wide range of our society. It is not ruled out that a vote of no confidence in two ministers will be raised.
Edmon Marukyan, the leader of the 'Bright Armenia' faction, announced this during a live Facebook broadcast at a meeting with citizens in a café.
In response to questions from attendees, Marukyan stated that the previous government was formed as a result of falsifying elections. The authority of the current government comes from the people, but this does not mean that a government which has received the votes of the majority cannot degrade, as has been stated by them before and now.
'A system has been drawn up so that Serzh Sargsyan has no counterbalance in the executive and other bodies. Now this system is being fully utilized by the current authorities. And the concern was that this government might start to adapt to this system and become uncontrollable. Our latest statements confirm this. Since the revolution, we no longer have the civil society we used to have. Now, we do not have defenders of rights who are not divided into black and white, the same goes for the media. The NGO sector, which should have been the 'barking dog,' the conscience of society, does not speak out against the majority government.
A parliamentary faction does not have the right to appeal to the Constitutional Court; you saw what happened when the moment came and a single faction could not appeal alone, while the Human Rights Defender can appeal alone, but a faction expressing the will of the parliament cannot. I can further enumerate the stench from the Constitution,' said Edmon Marukyan.
