Extensions After the First State of Emergency Were Meaningless and Caused Significant Damage to Our Country, Marukyan
We believed that extensions after the first state of emergency were meaningless and had caused significant damage to our country. Restrictions should have been maintained in a different regime. This was stated by Edmond Marukyan, the leader of the 'Enlightened Armenia' parliamentary faction, during a meeting with citizens in Vanadzor, referring to the extension of the state of emergency in Armenia.
According to him, the first message to international carriers for the restoration of air transportation should be the lifting of the state of emergency. 'As long as it exists, we remain under that red line,' he said, noting that another factor regarding this issue is the number of citizens infected with the coronavirus per 100,000 people, but as long as the state of emergency is extended, that becomes secondary.
'The first step should be to review the state of emergency regime and continue to follow health regulations in other modes to overcome this situation,' Marukyan emphasized. He highlighted that all proposals presented by the opposition from the very first day have been rejected and have not even been subject to discussion.
The situation we have is also the result of the authorities claiming, 'We know everything about how to act, and we will act as we know how,' he said, adding that a politically tumultuous autumn is expected.
'In September, the issue regarding the effectiveness of the fight against coronavirus will receive a final resolution, and secondly, the inquiry related to the state’s policy in the field of education over the last two years will be discussed,' he noted.
