Trump Signs Orders to Provide Aid to Americans Affected by Covid

U.S. President Donald Trump has signed orders that provide economic aid to Americans affected by the coronavirus after the White House was unable to reach a deal with Democrats in Congress, reports Voice of America.

Trump declared that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer preferred the passage of a bill for economic assistance. According to Trump, the Democrats' priorities surrounding the bill discussions reflect their desire to "steal the election."

Trump signed several orders, one of which allows for an income tax holiday for all Americans earning up to $100,000 annually. Another is aimed at preventing Americans who have lost their jobs from being evicted from their rented homes. The third extends unemployment benefits for Americans who have become unemployed due to the coronavirus, which will be reduced from $600 to $400 per week.

Student loan repayment obligations will be extended until at least the end of the year. The president also announced that he is considering cuts to income and capital gains taxes, which are intended to help American businesses.
