There are 3,800 Illegal Buildings in the Shoreline Areas of Lake Sevan, All Subject to Demolition, Minister Romanos Petrosyan
In the territory of the "Sevan" National Park, there are approximately 130 instances of illegal land seizures and unauthorized constructions in the coastal zone of Lake Sevan, along with another 150 cases of contractual leasing activities conducted without state registration, wrote Minister of Environment Romanos Petrosyan on his Facebook page.
“Moreover, there are around 1,000 entrepreneurs operating under long-term leases and construction rights, the nature, legality, and compliance of which need to be investigated in the medium term. This is just regarding coastal lands.

Currently, the total number of illegal buildings constructed in specially protected coastal areas amounts to around 3,800, all of which are subject to demolition. In the short term, our primary objective is to clear these state-owned lands of illegal booths, unauthorized buildings, and structures, establishing the rule of law in this vital sector. The overarching goal of all this is to restore the invaluable jewel of our nature—the ecosystem of Lake Sevan,” he stated.
