Video: Serge Sarkisyan Begins to Answer Questions of Public Interest

The office of the third President of Armenia, Serge Sarkisyan, has released a video in which he starts to respond to questions of public interest, as he had promised.

The released video, along with five subsequent short videos titled 'Let's Speak Honestly: Serge Sarkisyan on the April War,' marks Serge Sarkisyan's first direct communication with the public since 2018. The President has repeatedly indicated that he would answer publicly raised questions concerning matters of public concern when the time is right.

The topic of the April War is the first of these inquiries. On April 16 of this year, before the session of the National Assembly’s investigative committee, the third President of Armenia had promised journalists that he would hold a press conference immediately after the state of emergency, addressing all questions related to the events of April.

However, the ongoing state of emergency, extended indefinitely due to the Coronavirus pandemic, has made it impossible to organize a press conference in such a format, leading to the choice of short video formats instead. This does not replace traditional press conferences, but rather serves as a precursor to them given the current circumstances.

Sarkisyan wishes for every citizen to have the opportunity to hear from him personally about matters of public interest, presenting a fact-based account of what has truly occurred, as well as his visions for the future of our country.
