VIDEO: The explosion was very shocking, my car was lifted into the air - Beirut Armenian doctor

In an interview with SHANTNEWS.am, Beirut Armenian doctor Raffi Poladyan recounted the events of yesterday, describing the situation around the Burj Hammoud Armenian neighborhood where he was at the time.

“It was around 6 PM yesterday when I was on my way to a patient’s house from my personal clinic, and when I reached the intersection, this huge explosion happened. Before that, I saw some cloudy things in the air and thought, it can’t be that we have rain or clouds at the beginning of August. However, the explosion was very shocking; my car was lifted into the air, the windows of my rear car shattered, people jumped out of the shops; it was a terrible sight,” he described.

In his conversation with the media, the doctor also mentioned that when he reached his patient, he found they had not been injured, but many others were wounded. He was particularly surprised by the events that occurred even at a considerable distance: “It was a horrifying situation, it was 10 km away. I was astonished when I saw that the iron door of the garage had been thrown out from the back; can you imagine what a powerful explosion it was? The state of the people is such that they are struggling with wounds.”

He also noted that there was a power outage and the hospitals were overcrowded. Regarding the Armenians, early reports indicate that the death toll has reached 5.
