Edgar Manucharyan Announces Retirement from Football
Former national team forward of Armenia, 33-year-old Edgar Manucharyan, has announced his retirement from professional football.
"Dear friends, teammates, and beloved fans, I am announcing the end of my football career. After more than 18 years in professional football, serving my national team and my beloved clubs, I have decided to conclude my career.
During this time, there have been many positive and joyful moments, as well as downturns and defeats; I have gone through a very difficult journey, but I never bowed my head nor regretted the path I have taken, even though I fully understand that I did not meet the expectations of you and me as I could have... Now I am starting a new phase in my life, and I will definitely remain in football, doing everything possible and impossible to be useful to our football with my experience.
Thank you to everyone—my clubs, the management, all the staff, the federation personnel, and of course my teammates, thanks to whom I have traveled a long road... I love you..." wrote Edgar Manucharyan on Facebook.
Throughout his club career, Manucharyan played for Yerevan's FC Pyunik, Alashkert, Dutch club Ajax, Haarlem, and the Russian club Ural.
