28-Year-Old Woman Arranges to Sell Newborn for 850,000 Drams
On July 21, the police department of Armavir received operational information that a 28-year-old resident of Armavir had made arrangements during her pregnancy, through a 32-year-old local intermediary, with a 37-year-old man from Yerevan. She received 350,000 drams from him and, according to the agreement, was supposed to hand over the child to him after giving birth.
After handing over the child, the man was supposed to pay an additional 500,000 drams. The resident of Armavir gave birth on June 23 and handed the newborn over to the 37-year-old man. However, on the same day, realizing the consequences of her actions, she took the baby back.
During the preparation of materials, it was also revealed that the mother of the newborn and the man from Yerevan had gone to the local Civil Registry Office to acknowledge the child's paternity. However, they were unable to complete the paternity acknowledgment process as the mother of the child had previously registered a marriage with another individual.
The circumstances of the case are currently under investigation. Preparatory materials are being compiled.
