A protest held by unsuccessful university applicants in front of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport lasted for around 5 hours today, July 27, and concluded with the song ‘Mothers of Armenia.’

It should be noted that the applicants who were not accepted into universities gathered in front of the ministry starting from 12:00 PM, demanding a meeting with Minister Araik Harutyunyan. After waiting for an hour, the participants blocked the intersection of Khorenatsi and Vazgen Sargsyan streets and initiated a sit-in on the traversable part of the street.

Red berets apprehended two participants of the protest, after which the demonstrators moved to the police station and waited for the detained individuals to be released. The protest later resumed in front of the ministry.

It is worth recalling that the students who were left out of universities, along with their parents, voiced their dissatisfaction with the exam results and the new approach from the educational authority. Candidates who scored 7-8 points were admitted, while many candidates who scored 16 or more were not accepted, as this year the emphasis was placed on the profession, prioritizing those who listed the specific profession as their first choice.
