Police Release 7 Armenians Arrested After Clashes With Azerbaijanis: Union of Armenians in Russia
Seven Armenians arrested in Lyubertsy yesterday evening have been released this morning, according to the Union of Armenians in Russia's Facebook page.
“Dear compatriots, we ask you not to respond to provocations, including the irresponsible statements of newly emerged 'public figures' who are playing on the emotional state of their compatriots attacked by organized groups of Azerbaijanis,” the organization's statement reads.
The UAR emphasizes that “these notorious figures decide nothing even within their own families, but they make irresponsible calls for Facebook likes and give speeches in live broadcasts that disgrace our people and our country, confusing our community.”
Finally, the organization called for vigilance and calm.
It is noteworthy that on the night of July 24, a group of Azerbaijanis aggressively and organized attacked several local Armenian residents in Moscow, beating them and insulting them, while another group targeted vehicles with Armenian license plates, smashing windows and assaulting drivers.
