Bureaucrats Hiding in 'Gomikistan' Must Understand They Are Not Defending the Country: Karapetyan on Armenians Who Beat an Azerbaijani

Yerevan's mayor's spokesperson Hakob Karapetyan made a post on his Facebook page, which was later deleted. The post stated, "The bureaucrats, hiding in prosperous 'Gomikistan' (as they self-style), must understand that their aggressive actions do not defend the country, but the humble boys and girls clinging to the country's soil. On the contrary, their infantile behavior harms the country and the people. Continue to remain silent in your camps, and try not to draw too much attention; that would benefit us much more."

Karapetyan's statement was met with a response from the Yerevan City Council member from the Prosperous Armenia party, Hripsime Arakelyan, who wrote, "I agree with Hakob; what he wrote refers to a video where a group of Armenians living abroad beat an Azerbaijani. Yes, such disputes should not be resolved that way; we must rise above that level. However, it reminds me of a very restrained response to a woman who insulted Naira Zohrabyan in a non-public, private Facebook message a few days ago. According to Hakob's description, a woman living in the same 'camps' had hurled the most obscene insults at Zohrabyan and her daughter, accusing her of having come to France for a plate of 'bounty' and blaming Zohrabyan for everything. Why Zohrabyan was to blame for that woman not being in her homeland and arriving in France for a plate of food, as that woman articulated it, remains unknown.

But Zohrabyan had replied to that woman, who insulted her in private messages, saying, 'Madam, I am not guilty that you are not in your homeland and came to France for a plate of bounty.' You probably remember the ordered and specific campaign that was launched against Naira Zohrabyan, accusing her of insulting the diaspora at a time when certain services disclosed that one-sided response made months ago, inflaming our diaspora against Zohrabyan despite being an exclusively personal incident and directed only at that woman. I fully agree with Hakob Karapetyan, but do I have any doubts that a serious hate campaign against him will ensue? Based on rumors, that dirty, disgusting campaign against Naira Zohrabyan was organized to manipulate our diaspora by the RA Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, Zareh Sinanyan. Is Sinanyan ready to do the same against Hakob Karapetyan? I leave the conclusions to you. By the way, this is a public platform with comments, which cannot be compared to Naira Zohrabyan's private response. Let’s see who stands tall…
P.S. Hakob Karapetyan is the press secretary for Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan.
