Aliyev Accuses Opposition of Plotting a Coup

The President of Azerbaijan has once again leveled accusations against the opposition, claiming that a "coup is being prepared." Ilham Aliyev specifically labeled the "People's Front" party as "dirty elements" and "provocateurs." He stated that members of this party attempted to incite unrest, invaded the parliament building, and vandalized it.

It is worth noting that last week, gatherings organized with the government's permission had the opposite effect. Although these events were purportedly held to support the Azerbaijani armed forces, protesters began chanting anti-government slogans and calling for resignations.

The law enforcement agencies took harsh measures, leading to numerous arrests.
