‘Zhoghovourd’. Instead of Extending the State of Emergency, a New Law
‘Zhoghovourd’ newspaper reports: According to information from ‘Zhoghovourd’, active work is currently underway to improve the legislation on emergencies, so that next month it is not the state of emergency that is extended, but rather efforts are made to continue the fight against coronavirus within the framework of emergency legislation.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had mentioned the importance of such a change during a briefing on July 7, noting that the state of emergency cannot be maintained indefinitely. He stated, “We will try to improve the emergency legislation in such a way that under conditions of lifting the state of emergency, we will have tools to implement a specific anti-epidemic policy in the regime of emergencies.”
And now, ‘Zhoghovourd’ has learned that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has instructed the Ministry of Justice to work properly and ensure that there are no gaps in the legislation. According to our information, there is intense activity in the Ministry of Justice these days, in order to present a new draft proposal in a short period of time.
