Video: Illegal Activities of Aramus Community Leader Revealed; He Submitted Resignation This Morning
Criminal Police Department's Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Division has obtained factual information based on materials prepared on the received details concerning the head of the Aramus community in Kotayk Province. It is alleged that he, misusing his official position with the intent to embezzle, appointed several individuals as drivers and secretaries in the community administration from 2007 to 2018 and signed employment contracts for waste collection services. These individuals did not actually attend work or fulfill their obligations as stipulated in the orders and contracts; however, salaries and bonuses totaling about 7 million 500 thousand drams were calculated and issued in their names, which were embezzled or squandered by the community leader.
Furthermore, it has been established that the head of the Aramus community, acting out of personal interest while misusing his official position against the interests of the service, failed to record the illegal constructions on agricultural land by his relatives in the administrative territory of Aramus, specifically the public structures of restaurant complexes with a total area of 2923 and 2442 square meters, built during 2008 and 2012-2016. He did not take appropriate legal measures to stop these illegal constructions in a timely manner, demolish them, or hold the offenders administratively liable, resulting in these properties not being recorded in the community cadastre for years, thus failing to collect the corresponding taxes, causing significant damage to the legal interests of the community and the state.
A criminal case has been initiated concerning these events by the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Division of the Criminal Police Department, and it has been sent to the Investigative Committee.
It is noteworthy that this morning, the head of the Aramus community, Hrayr Nikoghosyan, submitted a resignation letter to the council, citing health issues as the reason for his departure. “I have been carrying 4 stents in my heart for about 12 years, my health has deteriorated, I am no longer capable,” he stated. He also added that his term was set to expire in November 2021.
