Article About Margarita Simonyan's Anti-Armenian Post Appears and Quickly Disappears from CSTO Facebook Page
An article concerning Margarita Simonyan's anti-Armenian post appeared and was rapidly removed from the official Facebook page of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). The article, published by the "Moscow Komsomolets" newspaper, bore the title "Spit and Crush" and brazenly reminded Armenians about the unrecognized status of Crimea.
The piece reflects on the controversial statement made by Margarita Simonyan, the chief editor of Russia Today, which has drawn significant criticism from the Armenian public. According to the article, Simonyan claimed that supporters of the Armenian authorities have "polluted her social media, and she can no longer remain silent." She accused the Armenian authorities of sowing anti-Russian sentiments, and noted that now, when "there is a war on the border, and the regime's existence is under threat, Armenians remember that Russia should save them."
A petition has even been launched online demanding that Simonyan change her last name.
Update: The article has been removed from the CSTO's page.
