Video: One of France's Largest Gothic Cathedrals Burns in Nantes
A major gothic cathedral, the Cathedral of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, has burned in the French city of Nantes. Details are still emerging as firefighters continue to battle the blaze. For nearly six hours, they have been unable to completely extinguish the fire, with active hotspots remaining.
Initial reports suggest that the fire broke out in three separate locations. The possibility of arson is also being investigated. The 17th-century rare organ housed inside the cathedral could not be saved, having been reduced to a pile of ashes.
According to France Bleu radio, 60 firefighters and six fire units are currently on-site, and the area has been cordoned off.
