Who Has Been Questioned in the $42 Million 'Unnecessary' Weapons Case
The newspaper 'Joghvorud' reports that there are significant developments in the criminal case surrounding the alleged unnecessary weapons purchased for $42 million during the tenure of former President Serzh Sargsyan. High-ranking officials have been questioned.
As is known, on March 11, during the campaign for the referendum on constitutional changes in the Tatev community of the Syunik province, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the Sargsyan administration acquired $42 million worth of weapons that cannot be used in military operations.
Recently, the National Security Service arrested Vahan Avetisyan, the former head of the Radio-Electronic Warfare Forces of the Armenian Armed Forces General Staff, in connection with this case, but he was released from the courtroom on July 9 due to a lack of criminal evidence.
According to information from 'Joghvorud,' also questioned in this criminal case were Tiran Khacharyan and Stepan Galstyan, aides to the head of the Armenian Armed Forces General Staff. However, we did not manage to clarify what they told law enforcement officials. It should be noted that various officials at the NSS have given testimonies, indicating that there is a need to improve the acquired radio-electronic means to be able to target the enemy's unmanned aerial vehicles.
