Azerbaijan Recently Attempting to Present Threats of War, Says MFA
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Anna Naghdalyan, commented on the statements made by the Azerbaijani leadership regarding the peaceful negotiation process. Anna Naghdalyan responded to a question from the Russian news agency Interfax.
Question: How would you comment on the recent statements made by the Azerbaijani leadership regarding the peaceful negotiation process?
Answer: The conflict has three parties that signed under the ceasefire agreement. Previously, Azerbaijan negotiated with both Artsakh and the Republic of Armenia. However, Azerbaijan then refused to negotiate with Artsakh. If Azerbaijan is now refusing to negotiate with Armenia as well, it is unclear with whom they intend to negotiate regarding the Artsakh conflict. Whether they plan to resume their negotiations with the Artsakh side is unknown.
Azerbaijan has recently been attempting to present threats of war under different pretenses. If their threat to withdraw from negotiations is one of those tactics, it neither surprises us nor impresses us. Armenia rejects the language of threats and stands for the peaceful resolution of the issue.
