We Will Acquire 100 Small Buses: Mayor Marutyan
Yerevan Mayor Haik Marutyan announced on his Facebook page, "We will acquire another 100 small-sized buses using community budget funds. As you know, in April, we announced a competition for the procurement of 100 12-meter city buses with financing from the World Bank, and the results of that competition will be summarized in the coming days.
Now, we have allocated financial resources from the community budget for the procurement of another 100 buses with smaller capacities in a shorter timeframe.
Let me present some of the conditions set for participants in the new competition: the ability to accommodate and transport wheelchair users, heating and ventilation in the passenger compartment, the presence of fire extinguishers, the possibility of card ticketing and connection of GPS devices in the driver’s cabin, presence of electronic information boards for passengers and automatic stop announcements, and the presence of signal buttons next to seats designated for persons with disabilities.
We expect that this batch of small-sized buses will be in Yerevan in the coming months, and along with the next 100 units of 12-meter buses to be supplied a little later, we will see noticeable improvements in one of our most critical areas—public transportation.
