Over 100 Participants in Azerbaijani Sabotage Attempt, Says Nikol Pashinyan
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced during a government meeting today, on July 16, that at approximately 3:40 AM, Azerbaijani special forces attempted their latest sabotage attack with a group of more than 100 individuals aimed at capturing the "Fearless" border post of the Armenian Armed Forces in the Tavush region.
"The post is located in the direction of the villages of Movses and Aygepar, and it is in this area that recent events have unfolded. The border guards of the Armenian army noticed the enemy's movements and, by transitioning to circular defense, they thwarted the attempt of infiltration. After intense fighting, the enemy was pushed back, with initial reports indicating casualties and injuries on their side, as well as losses in equipment," he stated.
Subsequently, at 5:20 AM, Azerbaijani units began shelling the villages of Aygepar and Movses using mortars and D-30 howitzers. Concurrent attacks were launched towards neighboring positions of the "Fearless" post, but the Armenian Armed Forces confidently repelled all assaults and brought the situation fully under control.
Pashinyan emphasized, "I want to highlight that there have been no casualties or injuries on our side, either military or among the civilian population." He further added that in recent days, starting from Sunday, the Azerbaijani side has shelled the villages of Aygepar, Chinari, Movses, and Nerkin Markir Aghbyur, causing damage to civilian infrastructure and residential buildings. "I have already instructed to assess the damages incurred in recent days and provide an evaluation," he stressed.
