Arabkir Mayor Awarded 150% Bonus Amid Employee Protests
Employees of the Arabkir municipal office held a protest today, July 16. The reason for the protest is that, according to the staff, they received quarterly bonuses of only 15-20%, while Mayor Aram Danielyan was awarded a bonus equivalent to 150% of his salary, reports News.am.
Mayor Aram Danielyan stated in an interview with journalists that there had been a shortfall in revenue collection (83%), and that bonuses are awarded for good performance. He indicated that the workloads of the protesting employees had been inadequate, yet they had still received 100% of their salaries.
Moreover, he noted that almost all department heads received bonuses of 100% or more, as they had also worked on non-working days. The mayor added that part of the bonus fund had been redirected by the municipality to provide social support to the elderly.
