Turkey Cannot Have Any Involvement in Conflict-Related Processes, Armenian Foreign Ministry
Following the attack by Azerbaijani armed forces towards the Tavush region of the Republic of Armenia on July 12, the Turkish leadership, including the President, Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense, have issued a series of official statements. These statements not only express unconditional support for Azerbaijan but also exhibit overt regional ambitions towards the South Caucasus, which the Turkish President and accompanying officials attempt to justify by referencing Turkey's "historical mission" in our region.
By invoking historical mission and ethnic or religious commonalities, Turkey has already destabilized situations in several neighboring regions, including the Middle East, Eastern Mediterranean, and North Africa, causing immense suffering to the people of those areas.
It should be noted that in the 21st century, Turkey is shaping its policies towards our region based on racial commonalities and the justification of the Armenian Genocide, perpetuating the tradition of impunity for this crime.
Turkey’s biased and provocative stance seriously undermines the peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and indicates that Turkey cannot have any involvement in conflict-related processes within international frameworks, primarily the OSCE. Under these approaches, Turkey poses a security threat to Armenia and our region, which necessitates broad regional and international cooperation to counter.
