Social Housing to Be Allocated to Three Families Affected by Heavy Rain in Gyumri
The Social Housing Distribution Commission, established through the collaboration of the Gyumri Municipality and the "ARDA" Charitable Foundation, held an extraordinary meeting today, July 15, focused on allocating six social housing units. These units are being designated for residents of makeshift shacks rendered uninhabitable due to the torrential rain and hail that fell on July 13.
At the beginning of the meeting, Gyumri Mayor Samvel Balasanyan spoke about the damage caused by the heavy rains, the work undertaken by the municipality, and several other issues, according to the Gyumri City Hall.
In order to assess the extent of the damage caused by the extraordinary weather events in Gyumri, a commission was created to organize and conduct the evaluation process. This commission previously conducted assessments in 104 shanty neighborhoods and identified nine families affected. Of these families, only three have currently agreed to accept the social housing units. The Social Housing Distribution Commission also approved the allocation of housing to these three families.
