Shooting in Yerevan: 27-Year-Old Youth Hospitalized, Possible Vendetta

On July 14, gunfire was reported in Yerevan. Around 11:15 PM, the "Erebuni" medical center notified the police's Erebuni division that a citizen with gunshot wounds had been brought in via a civilian vehicle.

According to shamshyan.com, the police identified the individual transported to the hospital as 27-year-old Samvel Hovhannisyan, a resident of 26th Street in Sari Tagh, Yerevan. Doctors stated that he is in extremely critical condition and unable to provide an explanation regarding the incident.

While Erebuni doctors fought for his life, officers from the Yerevan city police, the criminal investigation divisions of the Erebuni precinct, and the community police units, as well as investigators from the Yerevan investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia for the Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts, led by Deputy Head Vahe Lachinyan, also determined that the victim was taken to the hospital from in front of houses 26 and 13 on 26th Street in Sari Tagh. Upon arriving at the scene, they found two cartridges fired from an automatic weapon, numerous blood-like traces, and a BMW X5 vehicle.

Forensic experts from the police's forensic department also arrived at the scene. According to G. Shamshyan’s information, law enforcement and the investigation department are exploring several theories, including the possibility of vendetta. There is also a preliminary suspect who was the target of an attempted murder involving a firearm months ago, and certain details are not being disclosed at this time due to the interests of the investigation.
