Criminal Case Initiated Regarding Gunfire Directed at Chinari Community by Adversary
The Investigative Committee of Armenia reports that on July 13, 2020, around 15:10, gunfire was directed from the adversary's military positions bordering the Chinari community in the Tavush region of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border. The shooting was motivated by national hatred, carried out in a manner dangerous to many lives, and aimed at unlawfully taking the life of an individual and deliberately destroying property.
Shots were fired towards the house of a resident on 19th Street in the same community. As a result of the explosion from a fired shell, the mentioned house was damaged, and the aforementioned resident and family members sheltered in a hiding place, preventing the crime from being completed.
On the same day, the Tavush regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia initiated a criminal case under the articles 34-104 (attempted murder) and 185 (deliberate destruction or damage to property) of the RA Criminal Code.
An investigation is underway.
