Rescuers Deploy Rubber Boats and Over Ten Fire Trucks in Gyumri
On July 13, heavy rain and hail in Gyumri created an emergency situation, flooding several neighborhoods and streets. This information has been reported by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia.
“Around 15:00, the Emergency Situations Ministry’s Shirak Regional Rescue Department received a call regarding flooding in several areas and streets of Gyumri, with vehicles submerged on the Teryan-Akhuryan highway. Additional forces and resources were deployed from the fire and rescue units of Artik, Ani, Amasia, and Akhuryan to evacuate people and vehicles,” the Ministry's statement reads.
The ministry also stated that rescuers utilized rubber boats and deployed 13 fire trucks. The operation is being led on-site by Aleksan Gyozalyan, the head of the Shirak Regional Rescue Department, in cooperation with the Gyumri city municipality and the police.
