Three Days of Firefighting Efforts at Nubarashen Landfill
As of July 11, firefighting efforts at the Nubarashen landfill have involved two fire-fighting teams from the Emergency Situations Ministry's Fire and Rescue Department in Yerevan. An operational group from the organization of firefighting and rescue operations, 4 water trucks from the Yerevan municipality, and 6 units of special equipment have also been deployed.
The firefighters are working to extinguish the fire over an area of approximately 4 hectares, using a total of about 314 tons of water.
It is recalled that on July 9, at 20:05, the Crisis Management National Center received a call alerting that a fire had broken out at the Nubarashen landfill. Four firefighting teams from the Emergency Situations Ministry's Fire and Rescue Department, along with the operational group from the firefighting and rescue operations organization, responded to the scene. The complexity of the fire was assessed as “BIS-1.”
The fire was contained by July 10 at 07:50, with accumulated waste burning over an area of about 4 hectares. In total, 10 water trucks from the Yerevan municipality participated in the firefighting efforts.
On-site were Colonel A. Grigoryan, Deputy Director of the Emergency Situations Ministry, Lieutenant Colonel M. Mnatsakanyan, Head of the Logistics and Material Support Department, and Colonel A. Harutyunyan, Head of the Yerevan Fire and Rescue Department.
