Tragic Car Accident in Shirak Province: Collision Between Mercedes and Honda Results in 1 Fatality and 1 Injury
On July 8, a tragic car accident occurred in Shirak Province. According to Shamshyan.com, around 21:00, two vehicles—a Mercedes and a Honda Fit—collided on the Yerevan-Gyumri highway in the administrative territory of the village of Azatamut.
As a result of the crash, one person died at the scene, while another was hospitalized with injuries. Following the collision, the Honda veered off the roadway and ended up in a ravine.
Emergency services and a fire and rescue unit from the Shirak regional division of the Ministry of Emergency Situations arrived at the scene. Rescuers disconnected the vehicles from power sources, secured the gas cylinder, and cordoned off the area.
Under the direction of the investigator overseeing the scene, a criminal case was initiated based on the features of Article 242, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. By the investigator's order, the vehicles were transported to the special facilities of the police department in Akhuryan.
The police and investigative division are working to identify the deceased, the drivers, and the injured party. Eyewitnesses at the scene have reported that the deceased was identified as 29-year-old Hamlet Melikonyan, a resident of the village of Panik in Shirak Province.
