Video: Armen Sarkissian Plays a Passive Role, Raising Concerns, Says Arman Babajanyan
Today, on July 7, members of the "For the Republic" initiative gathered near the presidential residence, calling for an urgent resolution to the Constitutional Court issue. "We understand very well what role the Constitutional Court plays in our country and how crucial its role can be during elections. For at least 25 years, we have witnessed what this court has been engaged in, how it has continually supported the reappointment of the regime, and how it has validated fraudulent elections. There are valid suspicions that this court might have had political arrangements with the former authorities to serve their political goals," said Arman Babajanyan.
According to the deputy, at this critical moment, the President of the Republic is playing a passive role, which raises doubts. "The President's active involvement in this matter would demonstrate a responsible attitude toward fulfilling his constitutional mission and would not raise concerns. I can confidently say that we are in the same situation as we were on April 21, 2018, when hundreds of thousands of citizens were waiting in Republic Square for the President, and his action significantly defused and resolved the course of the revolution." Babajanyan urged the president to immediately engage in announcing this process, as he stated that the citizens of Armenia are currently waiting for the president's action. "The President must take on an active role because the Constitution requires him to be proactive," the deputy emphasized.
