Citizens Required to Pay Around 500,000 AMD for Hospital Discharge: Report

Georgi Gorgisyan, a member of the National Assembly from the LHK party, has reported that citizens are paying high prices for the fight against COVID-19. A citizen named Ara Nazaryan approached him, stating that his entire family had contracted COVID-19. Their parents received treatment at home, and they paid 250,000 AMD for medication and a nurse. Ara Nazaryan also paid 160,000 AMD for a CT scan for family members.

After receiving home treatment, the condition of the parents did not improve, and they were transferred to the hospital for treatment under hospital conditions. Following testing, their test results were reportedly lost at the hospital, and only after 7 days were they informed that the test results were negative. Subsequently, patients were required to pay approximately 500,000 AMD for their discharge.

Ara Nazaryan contacted the Ministry of Health and sent a letter to the minister's Facebook page, but no resolution has been provided, and the minister has not responded to the Facebook message. Additionally, it is worth noting that the citizen faced another problem: since he resides in Yerevan but is registered in a province, hospitals and polyclinics refused to conduct tests, demanding that the COVID-19 infected patient travel to Gyumri or present a document from the local cooperative.

Personally, I have also reached out to the minister regarding the issue raised by the citizen by sending a message to his Facebook page. I also have not received any response from the minister. I leave the assessment of the performance of health sector officials to the citizens.
