COVID-19 Situation in Armenia Remains Severe, Healthcare System Under Strain: Prime Minister
The COVID-19 situation in Armenia continues to remain severe, with the healthcare system operating under significant strain. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this during a briefing.
“We are receiving such reports not only from Armenia, as there are numerous countries where the pandemic situation was thought to be under control, but now reports are emerging of a new wave of coronavirus,” Pashinyan stated.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Armenia's strategy remains the same: the situation can be overcome through changes in citizen behavior and dialogue; otherwise, administrative sanctions will not yield results. Pashinyan noted that he distributed masks in Avan on Saturday. “I see that citizens still do not believe that their individual behavior can affect the situation. It was surprising for me that many citizens I interacted with do not have close ones who have contracted the coronavirus. There are still people in Armenia who personally do not relate to the problem, as their acquaintances and relatives have not been affected, which complicates our issue even more. However, I believe that the correct behavior is not to wait to be personally affected by the problem, but to acknowledge what exists,” he added.
