Chechen Blogger Who Insulted Kadyrov's Mother Killed
Two Chechens have been arrested in Austria, suspected of murdering Mamikhan Umarov, a blogger associated with the terrorist designation of the "Chechen Republic of Ichkeria" by Russia. The murder took place on July 4.
According to Eadaily.com's sources, Umarov was 43 years old, had received political asylum in Austria, and lived in the city of Gerasdorf under the name Martin B. He maintained a YouTube blog.
On his blog, Umarov had repeatedly made offensive statements regarding the leader of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, and his family, particularly targeting Kadyrov's mother, Aymani Kadyrova.
On Sunday, July 5, the Cornyuburg District Prosecutor's Office prohibited the release of information regarding the suspects or possible motives behind Umarov's murder. It is known that one of the suspects is 47 years old.
