20,000 Dram Fine for Not Wearing a Mask in Open Spaces and 50,000 Dram in Closed Spaces: New Draft Bill
The "My Step" faction of the National Assembly proposes to amend the Administrative Procedure Code and the Code of Administrative Offenses. According to Armlur.am, the draft bills aim to establish a special norm within the Code of Administrative Offenses regarding the penalties for violating the requirement to wear masks in public open areas and closed spaces, with sanctions set at 20,000 AMD (twenty times the minimum wage) for open areas and 50,000 AMD (fifty times the minimum wage) for closed spaces. The bills also outline the timelines for appealing these cases and their legal consequences.
Additionally, it is proposed that in cases of repeat administrative offenses, fines will be doubled based on the corresponding violations. The justification highlights that since the declaration of a state of emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Armenia, several restrictions have been imposed, including limitations on the right to free movement.
