From July 1, the one-time childbirth benefit for the first child has increased by 6 times, for the second child by 2 times: Avinyan
The Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia, Tigran Avinyan, announced on his Facebook page that from July 1, the one-time childbirth benefit for the first child has increased by 6 times, while for the second child it has increased by 2 times.
“Improving the demographic situation is one of our top priorities. Last September, I announced that we would launch new programs to encourage childbirth and support young families with children starting in 2020. Thus, starting from July 1:
- The one-time childbirth benefit for the first child has increased from 50,000 drams to 300,000 drams.
- The one-time childbirth benefit for the second child has increased from 150,000 drams to 300,000 drams.
As a result, parents will be able to cover initial one-time expenses related to the birth of their child. The monthly benefit for parents on childcare leave for children under 2 years old will also significantly increase:
- For urban working parents, the benefit will increase from 18,000 drams to 26,500 drams.
- For rural working parents, the benefit will also increase from 18,000 drams to 26,500 drams.
- For rural working parents whose child was born after July 1, 2020, the benefit will rise from 18,000 drams to 53,000 drams.
- For rural non-working parents whose child was born after July 1, 2020, the benefit will increase from 0 drams (previously they did not receive support) to 26,500 drams.
Several other changes have also been made. The requirement for parents to be in Armenia to receive the benefits has been removed. In other words, the right to receive the benefit or its payment will not be suspended if the parent is absent from the country. If the registration of birth occurs in a foreign state, it will no longer be necessary to provide a certificate of not having received benefits in that country in order for the Armenian citizen parent to qualify for the benefit.
If the parent does not apply for the designated benefit within one year after its assignment and it has been returned to the state budget, the amount of the benefit can be claimed within the next three years if a new application is made.
Next, I will also address new programs related to housing provision for families with children,” he wrote.
